Today was a fun day in Girl Scouts. We started with a get to know you bingo game that Ms. Nichelle introduced to the girls.
There was quite a lot of paperwork we passed out today (permission slip for swimming, Girl Scout registration form, and transportation form). This is pretty typical at the start of a new troop. We had the girls look over the snack schedule and realized we had missed four girls (oops!). The list will be redone and reposted to include those we missed.
We looked over the blog and showed the girls how they can make comments. As we work on our technology badge they will get more into blogging and learning about internet safety. Permission slips will go home to allow girls to blog and post pictures hopefully next week. Currently I have verbal permission from a few parents so pictures, at the moment, will be limited to those girls only.
We also discussed the requirements for the swimming badge we are working on. Girls watched a short YouTube clip that was downloaded about water safety and how to use a snorkel. Please note we told the girls if they don't feel comfortable with any of the swim activities they could simply let us know and they could pass without penalty.
Girls also learned how to make friendship bracelets out of yarn. We didn't have time to finish but they got to take their practice bracelet home. We will probably finish those up next week.
